I Got Through the First Week!

Well, I have now been here a whole week and am loving it. Wednesday was my birthday and I had been wondering how that would go being in a foreing country. I got to sleep in an extra hour and then when I got to the hospital Yanelis and Alejandra started singing Happy Birthday to me and then the group joined in. I was supposed to meet with Alex and Allison that night to discuss how things are going and what my job description is. When we got to their house I walked in and was welcomed with lots of screaming and singing and huggs...it was a surprise party!!!! I was so excited. These people had only know me four days and here they were throwning me a party. I felt so loved. Thursday we went to the market in the morning which was a lot of fun. It was extremely hot, but fun. That afternoon I got to take some time off and relax!!! I had needed it so bad and it was a good time to nap, talk for awhile with my mom and a friend, and like I said...just relax. We went to dinner that night at this place that has a dance floor. So while we were waiting for food we got to watch some professional dancers and after dinner we got to dance! Yesterday we spent the day at a resort! It was so beautiful. There were palm trees everywhere and the water was georgous. The pictures show the beauty and I never really believed it, but it's true! We went pretty far out in the ocean and still I could see everything beneath me. Absolutely beautiful!! Today I'm just relaxing. I got to sleep in and later I'm going to the salon with the girls. It should be a lot of fun. I thank you all for your prayers as I have felt them. As the week went on everything got easier. I am starting to pick up the language a bit better and I'm not quite as homesick. I'll update you again next weekend! God bless.
